We’re family-friendly at Affordable Art Fair Austin

Let’s be honest, you might be thinking we are crazy for encouraging children to come to an art fair where touching is not allowed. I get it, but let me change your mind, because Affordable Art Fair Austin is the perfect place to have a family day out!

My name is Cristina Salmastrelli, and I’m the Regional Managing Director of the Affordable Art Fairs here in the US and a mom of two rumbustious boys (ages seven and three). 

We know that art and graphics serve our children better in early stages of development and, often, it ends up being art that bridges the gap to the next stage of learning. We also know that viewing and making art can have positive impacts on their imagination, boldness, judgements, and cultural awareness.

So, ask me again, why wouldn’t an art fair be a place for children and families? 

The impact of art on a child’s development

Not only will Affordable Art Fair provide you and your family with a variety of artwork to view, discuss, and appreciate, but we will also provide you with HANDS-ON activities, organized by KIDO Preschools.

Family Hours are for us to embrace the families of Austin, so please bring your strollers, your snack packs, and even bring the temper tantrums!  During the hours of 10am – 1pm on May 18, KIDO Preschools will have a new activity for you and your little ones to partake in at our art fair every 20 minutes.

Take a walk around the fair, visually absorb the artwork, and then come and start making some. This is the perfect way for the little ones to discover and participate while including them in the next piece you purchase for your family home. 

Affordable Art Fair Austin, its galleries, and its partners are ready for everything that comes with the importance of paying it forward and getting the next generations of artists, gallerists, and other creatives inspired. 

My kids will be there! Oh, and if you can’t make it on May 18, children under 16 get in for free no matter when you want to visit. Just make sure they have a ticket.
