Affordable Art Fair Singapore has partnered with Lion’s Pride - Art from the Heart in support of President’s Challenge to share the healing power of art!
Affordable Art Fair believes in the healing power of art and, as such, we always promote its advantages through our global network of fairs. This year, we’re delighted that our Singapore fair will collaborate with Lion’s Pride – Art from the Heart in support of President’s Challenge, supporting their worthwhile cause while encouraging creativity of visitors to the fair.
President’s Challenge is a movement which is empowered by the kindness and generosity of the Singapore community. People from all walks of life, regardless of culture, religion or family background, gather together in order to help those in need in Singapore. President’s Challenge supports a wide number of charitable organisations from various sectors including children and family services, healthcare and eldercare, disability services and rehabilitation of ex-offenders – their ultimate aim is to build a more caring and inclusive society – one that we wholeheartedly support.
Art itself is not only an outlet for creativity but also a language of communication and expression, which for some, takes the place of verbal communication. Through painting, sculpture, making and creating, art allows everyone to express thoughts and emotions. Art as a therapy is particularly helpful for vulnerable children, who find it difficult to talk about how they feel and express their emotions. Arts and creativity provide a safe medium through which they can identify and release negative emotions.
You can of course choose to donate and be part of this great cause, however there are also a number of exciting activities at the fair, which you can participate in:
Firstly, join us at the Lion’s Pride – Art from the Heart workshops at Affordable Art Fair Singapore! Run by Lion’s Pride, which was founded by artist Diana Francis and art and charity specialist Marieke de Zeeuw; in these exciting creative workshops you will be able to express your own creativity, which all visitors to the fair will be sure to enjoy. No matter whether you are a young-at-heart or want to inspire your little ones through colour and pattern, we will be providing pens, paints, brushes and more so you can join in and express yourself. The Lion’s Pride – Art from the Heart workshop, led by Diana Francis, is the perfect accompaniment to an arty day out at the fair! Swing by the Creative Hub in Room E, on Level 3 to join in with all of the fun.
Secondly, be wowed by a larger-than-life mural! Excitingly we will have a large mural art installation featuring the iconic Merlion – the symbolic lion of Singapore! Take part by colouring in the mural, or participate in the art workshops to paint on a Lion’s Pride mini Merlion sculpture with a small donation. Part of the proceeds, of course, will go towards the President’s Challenge charitable cause. Everyone is welcome to participate – swing by the Creative Hub in Room E, on Level 3.
Finally, why not learn more about art therapy with the President’s Challenge team. Join us for a talk led by an art therapy specialist, where you can learn all about the positive impact of art on mental wellbeing and the Singapore community. The talk will take place during our special Arty-Licious Evening event, Friday 16 November, 8pm, in the Creative Hub, Room E, Level 3.
Join us for an altruistic, creative and fun fair!
