Our latest #MyAffordableArt blog takes a look at how four Battersea visitors have chosen to display their purchases.
There’s nothing better than seeing artworks bought at our fairs or online thoughtfully displayed in their new homes. Whether it’s a small but perfectly formed print, a statement sculpture or a vast abstract oil painting that you’ve found the ideal spot for, we want to see it!
Read on as we hear about the joy of discovering that perfect piece from four Battersea Fair visitors who left with their very own Affordable Art Fair pink packages.
Town Planner Sam chose this colourful Dan Parry-Jones painting from Gala Fine Art at our Battersea Spring Fair, feeling it would pair beautifully with her modern interior – we can’t help but agree!
“I’m so pleased with the piece – I keep going into the room and noticing that the paint colours look different in different lights, and the complexity of Dan’s work means there’s always something new to see, both close up and from a distance.”
We’re firm believers that the perfect piece in the right spot can bring a daily dose of enjoyment. A perfect example is this Herme Bellido print, beautifully displayed by Gina (@tale_of_a_terrace,) who chose the London river scene at our Battersea Fair back in 2016, but tells us she loves it just as much as the day she bought it:
“It’s something I appreciate more every time I look at it… I just love how well the colours work with the room, and the way they light up as the sun hits in the afternoon. I own quite a few prints, and while some move around, this has stayed put!”
It’s not just visitors who are tempted by artworks at our fairs; Alison of The Art Agency couldn’t resist this gorgeously atmospheric Peter Wileman painting, displayed by Lime Tree Gallery at our Battersea Fair:
“I had previously narrowly missed out on a smaller painting by Peter when we were at a fair opposite Lime Tree Gallery a few years ago, so I’ve always looked at his paintings at subsequent fairs. I spotted this one and instantly fell in love with it, so I bought it on the spot, as I didn’t want to regret not buying another one. Anyone who’s lost the chance to own a piece they loved because they didn’t buy quickly enough will know the feeling!”
London-based lawyer Chloe was immediately smitten with this rather large oil painting by Matt Lippiatt, who participated in the ‘Recent Graduates Revisited’ exhibition at our Battersea Autumn Fair. Matt graduated from Central St Martins in 2006, and has continued to work as an artist.
“We’re so thrilled with the painting, it’s a beautiful piece, and it’s very special for us. It was the first work we saw when we walked into the Battersea Autumn Fair and a present for my partner‘s 40th birthday. Our mantra is go big or go home – we went big and we took it home! Measuring with your mind is risky business, but thankfully it fitted as intended!”
