It’s time to meet the brand-new galleries making their Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam debut this autumn at De Kromhouthal, 1 – 5 November.
Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam returns this November, showcasing contemporary art from across the globe. Among the highlights are five new galleries introducing cutting-edge artists that should head straight to the top of your must-see list. Get to know them below.
By adopting an intuitive approach to stand curation, Lisbon-based Coletivo Amarelo are a new addition to this year’s fair whose goal is to offer fresh, creative ways to appreciate art. They consider art to be fundamental to life. In fact, they view art and life as, essentially, the same thing. At our fair, they’re set to bring a diverse collection with inclusivity and education at the forefront, partnering with both local and international artists who are experimental and transformative, spanning photography, painting and printwork. Expect to see works by Eduardo Dias, Osias André, Jerusa Simone and more.
Milan-based gallery Winarts Arte began as an idea when friends Benedetta Crippa and Martina Moglia were discussing their shared passion for contemporary art during a summer holiday in Greece. They then decided to create Winarts Arte, where they provide a platform for young graduates and emerging artists. Benedetta and Martina are firm believers in the importance of nurturing talent from early in the artistic journey. In their own words, Winarts Arte’s goal is ‘to bring art closer to people’s desire.’
They’ll be sharing exciting new works by Stjepan Sandrk, Alessandro Gerull, Golsa Golchini and NYX. The perfect place to find up-and-coming artists expressing fresh ideas!
Founded in the early 1960s, Galerie Mokum has since been a critical site for the viewing of Dutch realist artworks; a genre of art they specialise in. As perhaps the most identifiable venue for contemporary artists working in this style today, in recent years they have expanded to included international artists who pay homage to Dutch realism in their work, satisfying the demand of art buyers who love realist imagery on their walls. They represent over thirty artists, meaning you can expect a great deal of versatility at their stand this November. The broad scope in which these artists define themselves can vary between mediums; whether that’s still life, portraiture or expressionism.
They’ll be bringing works by an exciting array of artists, among them Hanie Soltani, who focuses on portraiture, as well as Eline Brontsema who creates interior visions through her work.
Galerie Mees – Van de Wiele has brought together two doctors and businessmen in a pursuit to satisfy their passion for art. Having started in Aalst, Belgium, their love for Ghent has recently made them move to a beautiful 19th century building in one of the most beautiful squares in the city. Focusing on solo or duo shows, they’ve had a number of sell out exhibitions since they moved to the new space in February 2023. They believe that art brings people together and can be a catalyst for positive change, which really aligns with our Affordable Art Fair values.
Their list of artists boasts some recognisable names, and they’ll be bringing Hidetaka Suzuki, Theophilus Tetteh, Renée Pevernagie along with them to present at our fair, alongside others. All three artists represent some of the best in upcoming contemporary painting, and we can’t wait to see the works at Galerie Mees – Van de Wiele’s stand this November.
Nieuw Charlois is an artist run platform in Rotterdam Oud Charlois, where work is solely shown by artists and designers residing in the area. Over the past thirty years, Oud Charlois has developed a unique strength, arising from its artist’s connection to their sense of place. This has created an unrivalled artistic value, unlike anything to be found elsewhere in Rotterdam.
At Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam they’ll be presenting a solo show of Ruud Goedhart, putting a spotlight on his everyday subject matter and boundary-pushing painting techniques.
If you’re on the hunt for an artwork, then head to these fantastic newcomers at our fair this autumn. It’s a great opportunity to grow your collection and find new favourite artists.
Overall, we’ll have 71 Dutch and international galleries to explore at De Kromhouthal, alongside a packed programme. Make sure to secure your tickets!
