Get to know the dedicated, creative minds behind the Hamburg and Berlin editions of the Affordable Art Fair.
With the new Berlin fair to launch in 2024, we have a busy few months of production ahead of us in Germany. From our shared, 150-year-old office on Milchstraße in Hamburg, preparations are well underway for our premiere in Berlin (12 – 14 April 2024). We can‘t wait to welcome all exhibitors, visitors, collectors and art lovers from across Germany and beyond.
Get to know the hard-working team behind the expert planning and creative direction of our art fairs in Germany, who work tirelessly to bring a unique, refined style of Affordable Art Fair to their respective cities.
Oliver Lähndorf is the amazing Fair Director heading up the Germany team. He’s worked with the Affordable Art Fair since July 2011, so with well over 10 years of experience, you’d be right in thinking he’s made some pretty notable memories with us.
Holding a MA in Arts Management, Oliver uses his experience as a Cultural Manager to smash expectations year-on-year, directing the Hamburg and Berlin fairs to be a future-orientated hub of creativity and innovation.
We’re always excited to see what Oliver has up his sleeve for the next edition. But, even with all the fresh ideas he brings, Oliver never forgets the mission at the heart of Affordable Art Fair – to connect galleries and clients to help them bring more original art into the homes of people all around the world.
Double digits is definitely something to celebrate. In 2022, Affordable Art Fair Hamburg celebrated the big 1-0, which was an exciting milestone for Oliver. Now, he can’t wait to continue sharing the experience with the artists, exhibitors and visitors beyond.
“I wish all galleries and my team a wonderful 1st edition in Berlin!”
It’s a pure joy to work with Hannah, the incredible Fair Manager behind the magic of Hamburg and vision for Berlin. She’s been with the Affordable Art Fair since June 2020 and with her extensive knowledge of cultural science (BA), art history (MA) and experience in scientific research and exhibition curation, she’s a priceless member of the Germany team and will be curating the Emerging Artists exhibition this year.
Each and every fair opening is a highlight for Hannah.
“I love the atmosphere at the fairs and that they get more people interested for art. A special moment for me is when we open our doors and the event we have been planning meticulously begins to take place.“
With the 1st Berlin edition looming, Hannah can’t wait to launch into the buzz of the new Berlin fair.
For an even more immersive experience at the fair, we have a team of experts on-hand to take customers for a closer look at the artworks on display. Our Germany team want to ensure visitors discover hidden gems, meet artists and get clued-up on all the details of particular artworks. This is a great experience if you’re a new collector wanting to make your first purchase.
Our friendly Public Tour guides will meet groups everyday during the far. We’re all about transparency and accessibility, so this is a great way for you to get all the insider knowledge for free.
Additionally, there will be two themed, curator-led guided tours. During Affordable Art Fair Berlin, join Fair Director Oliver Lähndorf for a tour of “Kunst unter €500”, or both Oliver and Hannah Weber-Heidenfels for a tour of must-see “Emerging Artists”.
Join us for our Collectors Talk this year on Sunday 14 April.
Dr. Anna Schwan and Kolja Reichert, former art critic of FAZ and now program curator at Bundeskunsthalle, will be talking about his new book “Kann ich das auch?”, which aims to explain art in a very simple way. In his book, he answers 50 questions that one could ask about art, even without the knowledge of an expert.
A huge thanks to the incredible Germany team for sharing their inspirations for the upcoming 1st edition of Affordable Art Fair Berlin. If you’d like to learn more about programming, openings times and FAQs, take a look at our detailed Fair Pages.
