This Christmas, take inspiration from the taste-makers of Instagram who are proving that you CAN buy beautiful, quality, affordable artworks on our online marketplace.
We don’t like to brag, but we have the greatest friends. Especially those on social, whose drool-worthy Instagram feeds we love to see our artworks pop-up on. This Christmas, to prove that you CAN find beautiful, high-quality artworks that are also affordable, we’ve been working with our taste-maker pals, and challenging them to do just this through our online marketplace.
Read on to find out who they are, the artworks they selected, and get a sneak peek at the artworks hanging in their beautiful homes. Plus, to help out with any Christmas shoppers-block you may have, we’ve created a curated category, inspired by their fantastic style.
Jess is a prior showbiz journalist, turned interior’s editor and UK home do-er up-per. Her Instagram feed is filled with utterly swoon-worthy décor shots, and the type of creative finishing touches that, quite frankly, make us want to copy everything she does. The mum-of-two snapped up the gorgeous ‘Am I made out of atoms?’ by the ever-popular Marcelina Amelia, represented by Liberty Gallery.

Stylish US couple, Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula, of Bravo TV’s reality show, Summer House, wasted no time in selecting a Pierre Williams sculpture for their home. The happily engaged two-some took some time out of their hustling work hard, play hard schedules to land on one of Pierre’s award winning ceramics, represented by GreenStage Gallery.

Along with founding successful lifestyle blog Nappahead, vintage clothes swapping site Swap and Shop and Hong Kong’s first ever pop-up shop Little Square on Square Street Central, Hong Kong based PR Director Samantha Wong also manages a portfolio of 20+ international beauty brands! Wow! Samantha is a regular at Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong which inspired her to kick-start her own collection.
Recently Samantha agreed to welcome us into her home and share her experience of collecting, which we caught on camera. Samantha selected the ethereal ‘Stars 13’ by Ellie Davies of Crane Kalman Brighton gallery – the only one of our taste-makers to select an artwork above £500 (although, we can see why she picked it – nice taste!). Samantha says: “Every art piece is like a conversation with a friend. It raises my curiosity to go deeper into the topic and feelings, and I never get bored with it.”
With four fantastically eccentric hotels in London, Brighton, Oxfordshire and Penzance, Artist Residence are one of the most talked about boutique brands of recent years. Faced with the challenge of inheriting a tired family business in need of an original touch, Charlie and Justin Salisbury recognised the opportunity to support local artists by displaying their unique artworks at centre stage within each location.
Their interiors team chose this sparkly sensation by Dave Buonaguidi of Jealous Gallery – specially created to celebrate our 20th anniversary. At 5 feet tall, and with more than 4kg of pink diamond dust required to coat its surface, ‘Party Like it’s 1999’ is big, bold, and we’re thrilled to see it’s off to a beautiful new home!

Actor, musician and yoga pro, Alex, is Hong Kong’s quintessential ‘man about town’ with impeccable taste, having selected two original paintings totalling less than £500! With a creative upbringing, due to his famous singer father, George Lam, and music producer mother, it’s no surprise that Alex followed an expressive route in his own career. Alex maintains his wellbeing, not only through the art in his home, but also his love of yoga where he finds peace and solace.
The unique works Alex selected are ‘August’ by Phil Johns of Lime Tree Gallery and ‘Flowers 5 Colombia Medillin’ by Ramzi Musa of Degree Art. Talking about his creative picks, he says: ”I chose them because I like the colours and I thought they would make my apartment more colourful and pleasant and vibrant.”
