Find incredible art on a budget with our tour of galleries exhibiting works under £500 at Affordable Art Fair, Hampstead, 8 - 12 May 2024. In partnership with JM Finn.
If you’re just starting out buying art, and are looking for amazing artworks that won’t break the bank, look no further than our Under £500 route guide, brought to you by our Lead Partner, JM Finn. It’s a jam-packed tour of the best affordable pieces at our Hampstead Fair (8 – 12 May). Let’s go!
The best place to start planning your new art collection is our curated display ‘Finds Under £500’, in partnership with JM Finn, where we’ve brought together some of the strongest work from our amazing exhibiting galleries. You’ll find the displays in our atrium entrance, where you can also pick up a copy of JM Finn’s helpful guide to collecting art.
Featured artworks include Jo Cresswell’s eye-catching ‘Te Quiero Muchoo!’ from Turning Tides Contemporary, and Fernando Guerra’s sun-drenched ‘The Pool’ photograph from Narrative Gallery.
Kick off the rest of the tour at ArtBlue Studio, recognised for giving collectors and buyers the best possible access to some of the most exciting artworks coming out of Vietnam. Look out for Hang Tuan’s warming oils and Bui Van Hoan’s serene paintings, inspired by peaceful approach to life, pictured below.
Head around the corner to Greenstage Gallery to admire Pierre Williams’ gorgeous ceramic figures, inspired by classical sculpture, mixing traditional and contemporary textures and glazes to achieve these striking figures.
Williams takes inspiration from the craftmanship of the details in Hereford Cathedral, fusing slips, oxides, under glazes, enamels and lustres to achieve the desired effect.
Popping just next door, you’re sure to find something to pique your interest in Forest Gallery’s eclectic mix, including Chris Ross Williamson’s quirky oils (always featuring a Jack Russel!) to Anna Andreadi’s delicate bronze sculptures, inspired by the little everyday goals of balance and harmony, pictured below.
A little way down the aisle is Hayloft Gallery, where you can bask in Lindsey Hambleton’s radiant landscapes – their swooshing strokes and flowing colours are sure to draw the eye. Keep on the inspired-by-nature theme with Tessa Pearson’s distinctive watercolours, influenced by her own garden and her travels in Morocco.
Further into the fair, don’t miss Liberty Gallery, for Francesca Lupo’s novel collage ‘Sunday Afternoon in Manhattan’ featuring miniature cut-outs of iconic 60s celebrities, appearing to perform on the tiny stage. Also on display is Lars Tunebo’s whimsical ‘I Love London By Night’, hand-finished with clear transparent colours and individual effects.
Hop over to the next aisle to Brook Street Gallery, featuring colourful geometric prints full of unexpected angles by Liudmila Krutikova and Mila Morton’s intriguing oil on Xuan (rice) paper, which showcase a spectacular range of brushwork whilst maintaining a careful and considered quality.
Next stop is Le Belle Epoch, where you can see Lexi Laine’s stunning underwater photography, which gives off an otherworldly quality, enhanced by the 1973 vintage silk parachute hand-sewn to the skirt. Both the model and photographer are freedivers.
Our final stop, you can always count on North London Printmakers to have some great budget friendly options to suit all tastes, many highlighting iconic local landmarks around North London, including Rebecca Denton’s ‘Ladies Pond’ and Liz Whiteman-Smith’s prints of popular Hampstead pubs.
That’s our whistle-stop tour of artworks under £500 – but don’t worry, there are 1,000s more to explore at Affordable Art Fair Hampstead! And, if you’re ready to start planning your new collection, why not have a read of JM Finn’s helpful guide to collecting art, available on their website.
