There's no doubt that technology is having an impact on art by allowing for new forms of creative collaboration. Read on to learn about the interactive augmented reality art collaboration coming to our Melbourne fair 1 – 4 September.
Augmented Reality– or AR to those in the know– is the integration of a real-world environment with digital elements (think Instagram filters). An exciting pillar in the rise of digital art, Augmented Reality expands on creativity and enhances the experiences of audiences.
We’re always looking to expand the accessibility of new digital art forms – including AR artworks, which is why we’re so excited to bring you this unique experience at our upcoming Affordable Art Fair Melbourne on 1 – 4 September at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
We’re proud to partner with Dorsett Hospitality International, who has collaborated with digital art and creative studio The Collective to create The Way We Dance. This AR performance art piece is choreographed by Yuh Egami (with kind permission from the Hong Kong Ballet) and performed by students Jennie Chou and Lee Kok Liang from the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts.
Combining visual art, virtual space and technology, the dance is brought to life via motion capture, with each virtual dancer designed through the lens of artists from all over the world; each representing their own unique experiences of the pandemic.
Alongside our fabulous galleries, Dorsett Hospitality International’s booth will also showcase House of Joy by Katrina Chuang and House of Dreams by Sunny Sun – two physical artworks on canvas that come to life through an AR Instagram Filter.
Visitors who visit the Dorsett booth at Affordable Art Fair Melbourne can watch the performances using an iPad available and bring the canvas artworks to life through a custom Instagram filter.
