Emerging Artists at the Hamburg Fair

Initiated in 2012 by Fair Director Oliver Lähndorf, the annual Emerging Artist exhibition at Affordable Art Fair Hamburg has given a curated platform to new talents who haven’t been represented by a gallery at the time. Most of them have been recent graduates from the HFBK Hamburg.

Looking back at the last 12 years, the visibility generated by the Emerging Artist exhibitions has been integral in supporting and pushing artist’s careers within the difficult starting conditions of the art world.

Emerging Artists 2023: ‘about constructions of reality’

This year, the ‘Emerging Artists 2023’ exhibition addresses the topic ‘about constructions of reality’ and will be curated by Fair Manager Hannah Weber-Heidenfels, showing the conceptual works of the three Hamburg based artists: Conrad Hübbe, Nina Kuttler and Katja Pilipenko.

The three different artistic positions deal with the same topic in their own individual way. All three artists have graduated at HFBK Hamburg within the last few years and have already been taking part in local institutional exhibitions such as Kunsthaus Hamburg, Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof and ICAT – Institute for Contemporary Art & Transfer.

The exhibition ‘about constructions of reality’ will create a space of tranquility within the busy atmosphere at the fair and will give the visitors the opportunity to reflect in these uncertain times.
