Affordable Art Fair Sydney is proud to reintroduce its much-anticipated Discover: Young Talent platform, showcasing 5 unrepresented artists who have been selected for their innovative and exciting approach to their practice.

This curated selection of young artists offers an ideal opportunity for collectors to snap up their artwork early and discover exciting new talent and techniques. With a range of mediums and styles, the Discover: Young Talent platform is not to be missed at the upcoming Affordable Art Fair Sydney. EMMA SHEEHAN

Known for her playful application of colour and pattern, Emma Sheehan takes a fresh approach to still life and the art of everyday experiences. She is deeply inspired by her mother’s love of cooking and her aunt’s kitchen homewares store. Emma creates her compositions from a combination of imagined and real objects, taking an intuitive approach to her creative process and paint application.

Her art evokes a sense of nostalgia and joy that resonates with viewers and is the perfect addition to your collection.

JESSICA SMITH

Jessica Smith’s artworks provide a unique and invigorating approach to the art of traditional pottery. Juxtaposing ancient methods with alternative experimentation, Jessica addresses modern-day issues surrounding sustainability and our environment.

The series that Jessica is bringing to Affordable Art Fair Sydney this June explores the concept of ceramic art holding time through an interweaving of memory, place and experience. These intricate artworks are sure to leave a lasting impression on you, so don’t miss the opportunity to see them up-close during your fair visit!

SEAN CROWLEY

Sean Crowley’s creative process starts by observing the world around him, engaging in a dialogue with the beauty of the everyday, considering the interaction between within and outside of the composition. His works explore closeness, separation, and overlay, reflected in his painterly techniques and application of contrasting colour. Sean has received a BFA and GDip. from the National Art School, completed the IDP at the Royal Drawing School in London, and has been recognized as a finalist in the 2022 Waverley and Mosman Art Prizes.

XANTHE MUSTON

Xanthe in her studio

Xanthe Muston is a Sydney-based artist whose artwork explores moments of introspection and human connection through the depiction of scenes that oscillate between the familiar, the everyday and the unusual. Influenced by her studies in English Literature, Xanthe’s process often begins by taking scenes from short stories and poems, particularly those of Raymond Carver and Mark Strand.

This collection of paintings is a must-see during your visit to Affordable Art Fair Sydney 15 – 18 June, be sure you keep an eye out for them as you peruse the fair aisles.

Hannah Lange is a proud Wiradjuri Woman, who was born and raised in the Blue Mountains on Dharug/Darug and Gundungurra country. This land has a huge influence on her work and her art often encompass the landscapes filled with native bushland and layered sandstone cliff faces that she once called home. Hannah captures the intricacies of nature that often go unseen, drawing attention to its patterns and intrinsic beauty. Highlighting the innate deep connection of First Nations peoples to the land, Hannah’s special relationship with the land and her art practice is what keeps her connected to her culture and ancestors. EVOLVE

INTRODUCING OUR EVOLVE PLATFORM

Our new EVOLVE platform will provide a space at the fair for a former Young Talent exhibitor to return to the fair with a new collection of work. This year, Melbourne artist and crowd favourite Alice Oehr will show her work in Sydney for the very first time in her Still Life Salon!

Alice is highly regarded for her iconic and lively artworks that incorporate her love for food, pattern and collage. Her artwork is sought after both nationally and internationally alongside her work as an author-illustrator which include the recent Still Life Drawing (Hardie Grant, 2021) and Off to the Market (Scribble, 2022).

At Affordable Art Fair Sydney, Alice will present a body of work that is new to Sydney as well as create a beautiful Still Life installation that will inform her exciting drop-in workshops for art-lovers of all ages to enjoy.
