Enter a portal into different worlds with our curated tour around Battersea Autumn, 20-23 October!
Our Globetrotter trail will help you explore some of the most exciting sculptures, paintings, prints and more by exhibitors that evoke a profound sense of place and atmosphere. Follow our lead to be transported in space and time through the power of art!
Our first destination at Stand J1 is Marine House at Beer, where we invite you to enter an enchanting world of quiet ponds, luscious forests and swirling pools of colour with Harland Viney’s imaginative landscape paintings. Harland Viney is an Australian-British artist, who captures the sublime beauty of nature through unique, surreal compositions. The idyllic, untouched places depicted in his paintings seem to exist on the edge of reality and imagination.
Our next stop is the China Impressions stand, where you can explore a range of stunning works on paper steeped in culture and traditional technique. Their exhibited artist, Qu Leilei, was one of the founders of the Stars Group (1979) – the very first movement of Contemporary Chinese Art – alongside famous artist Ai Wei Wei, and has since been creating groundbreaking artworks. The artist has been featured in prestigious museum exhibitions such as in the British Museum and the V&A in London and the Ashmolean in Washington D.C. His work is also a part of the British Museum’s permanent collection. Don’t miss the chance to add a work by such a historically acclaimed artist to your at-home art collection!
Enter a magical blue dreamworld through Craig Keenan’s atmospheric works at the Art Friend stand, the next stop on our tour. The artist creates unique cobalt-blue cyanotypes that are inspired by the sublime beauty of the natural world. Craig is an established artist, who has exhibited his work alongside Damien Hirst, The Connor Brothers, Quentin Blake and is collected by celebrities such as Trevor Nelson and Graham Norton – don’t miss the chance to join them!
With just a short step away you will find Greenstage Gallery, displaying and impressive array natural and city scenery. With works from Doug Eaton, Maggie Jones, Juli-Anne Coward and many more you are sure to be inspired by the world we live in. Greenstage provides an opportunity for local, national and international talent to showcase their work within an accessible and friendly environment.
Trotting along to visit Artists in Residence at Stand J7, you’ll be surrounded by the spirit of Cornwall with Trevor Price’s intricate, black and white relief prints. Alongside his artistic pursuits, Trevor also works as a lifeguard in his hometown of St. Yves – naturally, the sea and the surrounding woods serve as the main inspiration for his artworks, which capture the landscape’s stillness and serenity beautifully.
Up next, we are transporting you all the way to the busy metropolis of Hong Kong with photographs by Andrea Björsell at the Arta stand. Andrea has travelled some of the world’s most bustling cities to capture their buildings, people and energy through his camera lens. Andrea’s urban landscapes have a unique, mesmerising atmosphere of their own, which truly captures the experience of living amidst the tall buildings, giant advertisement boards and many flickering lights of the urban jungle. Don’t miss out on her works at Arta’s stand, exhibiting with us for the first time this year!
Next, for your very own pocketful of sunshine, follow our lead to Contempop gallery’s stand. The beautiful photographs of Igal Pardo and Klaus Leidorf will teleport you from the greyness of London to faraway, exotic places full of white sand, sunlight and endless optimism – ready to jump off the wall and light up your home!
Just around the corner you will find Pencil Tree Gallery, showcasing a stunning array of bright and colourful landscapes. Featuring beautiful collections of abstract colour work from Dinah Case, emotive landscapes by Simon Par and vibrant scenery from Paul.
This next destination on our map will be a real treat for fans of special printmaking techniques. Based in Kyoto, The Tolman Collection is one of our new exhibitors at this year’s fair, specialising in various traditional forms of printmaking and championing the works of Japanese artists on the global stage. When visiting their stand, keep an eye out for the colourful woodblock prints of Joel Karhu, who captures the architectural beauty of his hometown of Kyoto in his signature jewel tones.
Our tour finishes with Raquelle Azran gallery, visiting us all the way from New York. Gallerist, art dealer, curator and collector Raquelle Azran is a leading specialist in Vietnamese Fine Art. At this year’s fair, the gallery will present an incredible new body of work by Dinh Thi Tham Poong, entitled Moving Through my Worlds. The series of breathtakingly beautiful watercolours on handmade paper provide a glimpse of the life journey of the internationally acclaimed Vietnamese artist, from village and nature to city and modernity.
