Columbia Road Gallery (K2) is bringing the wow-factor this autumn, showcasing a beautiful selection of artwork priced under £500, including gorgeous mixed-media artworks by Katie Mullender and Chantelle Wroblewska-Fairless.
Mullender’s artworks tread a fine line between abstraction and reality. She’s inspired by life’s everyday moments, which she transforms into unique artworks using a combination of oil pastels, ink, and paper collage.
Rising star artist Chanelle Wroblewska-Fairless is one to watch. Her artworks are anchored in colour, composition, and the skilful construction of space and narrative. Textured and colourful, these artists are a must-see!
For dreamlike, colourful artworks head to Bleach Box Gallery (J4) and look out for captivating paintings by emerging British painter Alanna Eakin. Guided by her imagination and memories, Eakin skillfully translates dreamlike scenarios onto her canvases, centering on themes of nature, escapism, and nostalgia.
The Tolman Collection (G3) will be showcasing cheerful etchings by Sayaka Kawamura, who employs woodblock printmaking as a medium to engage with her own memories. She skillfully merges the realms of dreams and reality, offering unique perspectives on the world. Her creative process begins with drawing lines on a copper plate and then vigorously pressing down, using hatching techniques to convey darker spaces.
Also, don’t miss the opportunity to explore Saito Noriko’s work. Her art draws inspiration from the stories shared by her family, who reside in Hokkaido, the northern part of Japan’s main islands known for its volcanoes and hot springs. Noriko gets great pleasure from creating textures and carefully selecting colours that harmonise seamlessly. She often favours watercolour ink, which contributes to the soft colour palette for which she is renowned.
If you’re on the lookout for original oil paintings that don’t break the bank, head to Mayne Gallery (B5) where you’ll find artworks by the talented Lesley Dabson!
