Kwing-wing Water Poon was born in Nanhai Guangdong, China in 1944 and has developed a well regarded and well known practise within the Chinese speaking world. Water POON has taken part in a large number of solo and group exhibitions, in 2017 he exhibited at UOB Art Space, Regal Airport Hotel HK and Solo Exhibition at Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Along with an extensive list of exhibitions, Water POON has also won awards for his amazing work such as Hong Kong Arts Festival Graphic Design Award, Hong Kong in 2013.

Today, Water's depictions of Rose are an amalgam of all these young women whom he collectively calls Ga-ga ("family" in Cantonese). They enchant old and young alike who identify with the wistful modern Chinese girl and the landmarks depicted. Many assumed that these dreamy pictures were painted by a young girl, much like Yi Shu when she wrote her first novel.
