About Ian Robinson

About the artwork

Ian Robinson paints objects in collections. Frederick Horniman collected a huge range of objects from around the world in the eighteenth century (now bequeathed to the nation in the Horniman Museum). He collected many different types of ornate books from bibles to volumes reflecting world travel and trade. Here are three travel books from the collection, painted in photographic detail but with a painterly faded beauty and charm.
