The Seafarer is a large narrative landscape print by Tim Southall which sees a dog watching a seafarer embark on an unknown journey across the waves. This fresh and evocative print captures the bright light of the coast where one can almost smell the salt in the air. This limited edition print is a 7 colour silkscreen print made on Somerset tub size, a heavyweight 350 gsm handmade paper from St Cuthbert’s Mill in Somerset. The print is in a limited edition of 50 and is signed by the artist.
Tim Southall studied Fine Art at Northumbria University and then printmaking at the Royal College of Art and l’école des beaux art, Paris. Based in London for twenty years, he now splits his time between London and his house and studio in the Cadiz Province, southern Spain. The base upon which he builds his work is metaphysics: existence, objects and their properties, space and time, cause and effect, and possibility. Using these guides, he express's how he see's and experiences the world.
