About Tanja Hirschfeld

About the artwork

This is one of the latest artworks by Tanja Hirschfeld. Material: Oil on paper, framed with a white wooden frame of a high quality; ready to hang.

About the artist: Born in Rome 1971, Tanja Hirschfeld spent much of her early life in Italy and Germany. When she was 13, she and her family finally settled in Munich, Germany. At the age of 18, she started studying graphic design at the university of applied sciences in Munich. After graduating in 1994(master and bachelor degree as communication designer/illustrator), Tanja worked for many years as a commercial graphic designer and illustrator. In 2014 she started developing her personal art work. She is working in Munich as a figurative oil painter and famous for her mixed-culture painting. She works intensively with masks and costumes from different cultures. Her research produced countless overlaps of otherwise disconnected elements of traditional clothing. This led to the creation of a series that joins different world cultures in one human being. The exotic, the unfamiliar and the familiar are merged to evoke affinity and dialogue.
