About Richard Knight

About the artwork

Richard is inspired by both urban and coastal life where, through the noise and in the busiest places, he paints the quite silence. His marks are architecturally descriptive but with colours that dilute this obvious real, freeing the eye to see opened compositions, the city without its entrapment and the coast in all its natural cycles.

Richard has exhibited with growing success, gaining admission to both The Pastel Society and the Royal Society of Marine Artists exhibitions at the Mall galleries and has been exhibited at various London art fairs and Open Studios for the last seven years.
Richard was brought up on the family farm in North Cornwall, but an ability to draw and paint led him to art college. Now living and working in London and inspired by its rich visual heritage and urban scenes, always looking to evolve and experiment with both subject matter and materials.
