About Paméla Maria

About the artwork

As an artist I am used to work alone, in isolation. The loss of a stage to sell, due to covid-19 is very disrupting. The/my world is more uncertain then ever. Yet there is love and hope. What will the/my future bring? This work is about confusion and the search how to approach a new era. Death seems so close now and then these days, but I want to live and love! The title of this work therefore refers to the title and the theme of the book 'Everyman' by Philip Roth: which is an indictment of death, of old age which deprives the old man of the most dear, namely eroticism; the core of life. When you look at this work I hope you see and feel the thrill of love and being alive.
