About Nicholas Choong

About the artwork

This Nicholas Choong abstract painting depicts the city at twilight. These cityscapes are based off the Kuala Lumpur skyline. He has been working on these paintings for a few years. These cityscapes are meant to capture the monumental buildings and towers that are rife in any busy metropolitan city across the world. They are a reminder that even in these overcrowded steel skylines, there is beauty and energy in everything. As these paintings are not representational of any one road, car or street, they are compositions formed out of trial and error, failure and a determination to get it right. in other works, grit and stubbornness (on his part) to reach a higher level of artistic mastery. These paintings are not representational of any one car, road, street or building but are compositions that depict general KL cityscape which has it's contrasts and qualities in the old vs new / concrete vs steel.
