About Laurence de Valmy

About the artwork

Laurence de Valmy's works reflect on the relationship between art and modern technologies, and more precisely on the possibility for dialogue between artists of the past had social media been available to them. The present work is part of a series depicting social media posts apparently made by famous artists, playing on de Valmy's knowledge of the history of art and illustrating a critical reflection on communication. This artwork, created in acrylic, is a clever juxtaposition of an original painting and an imagined social media conversation between two artists (here David Hockney and Andy Warhol), simultaneously historically accurate and humorous.
