Let the fair insiders share the artworks they're most excited about at the 12th edition of Affordable Art Fair Stockholm on 2 - 6 October, 2024.
This October we’re back with Affordable Art Fair Stockholm for another art-packed edition. With over hand-picked 60 galleries exhibiting, the fair proudly presents hundreds of contemporary artworks to help you start or extend your art collection.
We encourage you to buy the art you love. If a piece of art makes you feel, and you can’t stop thinking about it, then it probably belongs on your wall.
Ahead of the fair, Fair Director Carl Wilhelm Hirsch, and Fair Manager Lovisa Smyth Vasseur, have chosen their top artwork picks to give you an idea of what to expect during your visit.
Carl’s selection in 2024 focuses on the calmness and peacefulnessand artwork can bring to a home. With slightly darker tones, they offer depth and breadth of an interior, allowing the audience to ponder and interpret along with their experience and creativity.
Artist Carola Schapals is deeply inspired by magic places in nature, a special kind of architecture, and the beings of green plants. The interplay of illegibility and transparency, elements of magic or the mystery of light, capture an atmosphere that invites the audience to be in the scene together with the artist.
While the shades of darkness create the curiosity of unknowns, the spontaneous spark in the green provides comfort.
The great minds behind the Iris Project, Felix Mayrl and Olivier Colin, are fascinated by human irises. They view them as prisms as well as their ability to highlight the infinite beauty and diversity of people all around the world.
By outlining the uniqueness of individuals through the pair of windows to each of our souls, Felix and Olivier aim to weave a connection between all humans.
Argentinean artist and designer Cevo was born in 1991, a period that spoke to the traditional art ecosystem and innovation of creativity and novelty.
His art is bold, colourful and always stands out from the crowd. Cevo never limits himself to architectural cityscapes or portraits, you can also find him painting various topics or themes.
Blue hues can help us feel calm, but also energised.
Sara Källberg aka OBSKYR explains, “I’ve always had a strong fondness for the odd, dirty and crooked. The perfect rubs a little and feels uncomfortably adjusted.”
The rugged canvas, dripping paint and even reflection of light of the work gives a strong vibe, while the symbols open a small gate for the audience to interpret the beautiful chaos presented by the artist.
Peytil might be one of the freest artists you can find at the fair.
From an early age he was encouraged to experiment and follow what his heart led him to. He left the fashion industry and switched from the runway to something without rules or limitations – art!
Peytil’s works often involve elements such as lines, shapes and colours, yet the combination of them never fail to surprise.
As he finds beauty in spontaneous expressions and the simplicity of black lines, his works are perfect for any homes with elegant and minimalistic design.
North London Printmakers offer a wide range of prints with affordable pricing. Artist Diego Arellano is witty and funny. The title of his “Try Again” print is such an encouraging one that will surely bring a smile to the audience.
If you’re going to start the art collecting journey, you really shouldn’t miss a visit North London Printmakers.
The key themes of Lovisa’s selection are abstract and human figures. While we can easily connect ourselves with the portrayed person in the artworks, abstract works give us opportunities to appreciate textures, colours, shapes and motives respectively.
Needless to say, red is always a good colour choice to brighten the mood of the day.
Both selected artworks have beige background and use red as the leading colour. While Mariana Álvarez’s work entails her favourite motifs, the red robe and a contrasting blue basket, Margarita Cancino’s work utilises irregular shapes of the canvas. Her pattern and layers convey an entirely different style, making a connection with her roots with the Cherokee and Native American world.
Artist Daniel Pourrahmaty from Dani Handcraft has magical skills to sculpt wavy clay and form different landscapes. He doesn’t limit himself to a single colour, but the three-dimensional sculpture is definitely his signature.
Merging colour, symbols, and perspectives into a visionary imagery where the abstract meets the figurative, artist Anna Pajak fully utilises geometrical spaces. Being inspired by modernist female painters, spiritualism, and dreams, Pajak deconstructs and recombines symbols, images, shapes, and architectural fragments in ways that challenge traditional contexts and interpretations.
Artist Aron Kroes challenges the boundary between abstract and portrait and perfectly combines the two. His abstraction stems from an intuitive approach, serving as a genuine expression of emotions, experiences, and technique, without any compromises. Each brush stroke shows tension with changeable colour shades, leaving room for imagination.
Through his lens, artist Johan Lindeberg presents a unique perspective on contemporary culture, blending fashion, art, and street photography to craft compelling visual stories. His expertise in photography and fashions mirror his raw, urban aesthetic vision. Be it wild or gentle, Lindeberg knows best how to deliver with styles.
