At Affordable Art Fair, we live by our word “Home is where the Art is”. Our Spotlight feature this year will be an eye-opener and show you how you use Art to make your home Home.
After a long day of work, what would be the perfect space to be welcomed home to? You might want to rest upon a soft and cosy sofa, or be immersed in some warm and welcoming colours. Whatever you crave from your home space, it’s always emphasised best through the art we keep.
We’ve invited three expert curators who are all professionals in their respective fields to the 12th edition of Affordable Art Fair Stockholm. They’ll be taking three areas of the home as inspiration, then decorating them with brilliant ideas, visions and, of course, artworks! This, our “Spotlight” section, will be your go-to place to begin extending your art collection and build your home sweet home.
Also, the three curators have gathered and discussed contemporary art, interior design and a lot more. Click here or scroll to the bottom and listen to the podcast lined up by Nordic Art Agency!
Without further ado, allow us to introduce our curators!
Being inspired by the phenomenon of the pandemic time, Gallerist Deborah Duerr has initiated the concept of TAKEAWAY @ Galleri Duerr, where takeaway has symbolised the era’s reliance on takeout dining, highlighting the shift towards alternative means of enjoying culinary experiences.
Inviting emerging artists, designers, and craftsmen to showcase their creations in a pop-up exhibition within their gallery space, the gallery is committed to supporting, promoting and nurturing arts and their creators with their resources.
Bringing a long list of artists for art lovers and collectors to explore what they love and what fits their home offices, the concept of TAKEAWAY also aligns with Affordable Art Fair in that you can take your favourite works away right after purchase with complimentary wrapping!
“This platform will not only feature a curated selection of our current artists but also extend an open call to welcome new talents, fostering growth and innovation within our vibrant artistic community.”
British art advisor Juliet Rees Nilsson has taken inspiration from the New Scandinavian Design and started The Nordic Art Agency in 2010. To Juliet, it is essential for visitors and collectors to feel welcomed and instantly at home, therefore its interior design is a key part of forming the gallery’s atmosphere.
Taking the same philosophy for a dining room, Juliet will create a unique art experience with a sense of balance and tranquillity. This will be achieved through sustainable and natural materials, colour design and lighting, all reflecting nature’s changing seasons.
A handpicked selection of international and Swedish contemporary artists with a fresh approach to their practice and artistic processes, alongside Juliet’s curation and the ethos of the gallery, will present you with a refreshing understanding of the room.
“Invited by Swedbank and I, please visit us at the Dining Room. It will be created by a selection of our artists in the most relaxed and beautiful environment, where you would like to spend hours having a fabulous dinner party, sitting, sharing good food, great conversation whilst being surrounded by unique and intriguing artworks.”
If you are interested in how colours work for your well-being, Sara Garanty will be the right person you should talk to. Whether through her work as a stylist, decorator or artist, you will be able to see all aspects of the impact of colour and its psychology. Sara strongly believes that colour affects us physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Highlighting the collaboration between colours and how they can improve your happiness, Sara intends to open a gateway connecting the beginning and the end, symbolising the origin of the universe and a harmonious fusion of masculine and feminine energies.
Sara will curate a selection of artists whose works carry a deep spiritual theme, along with a consistent colour palette, aiming to uplift the viewer’s gaze and offer a glimpse into another dimension.
“Each artwork becomes a portal to a world where the celestial and the earthly unite, inviting the observer to reflect on the mysteries and depths of existence.”
