Discover Hong Kong with Derry Ainsworth
What if you could experience Hong Kong the way a photographer does, spotting beauty in the everyday, capturing moments locals cherish, and seeing familiar streets in a fresh new light?

With the support of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong invites you to encounter Hong Kong through the eyes of a photographer, bringing photography beyond the gallery and into the city.
Across Wan Chai, Central, and Tsim Sha Tsui, six thoughtfully selected locations have been captured by local photographer Derry Ainsworth. These places offer viewpoints that showcase Hong Kong’s unique character, from dynamic streetscapes, East meets West culture, to hidden corners only locals know. This partnership encourages audiences to engage with Hong Kong’s distinctive urban landscape, rediscovering the city as both subject and medium.
Visitors are invited to explore these locations firsthand, stepping into the role of the photographer to observe, frame, and interpret the city as a travel destination. It is an opportunity not only to encounter Hong Kong’s familiar surroundings anew, but also to appreciate the craft behind the captured image.

Get to know the artist

Derry Ainsworth is an award-winning British photographer, videographer, and digital artist based in Hong Kong. After earning a degree in architecture, he embarked on a journey in 2014 to explore urban landscapes across Asia, a path that led him to settle in Hong Kong. He initially practised architecture before fully transitioning to photography, dedicating his career to capturing the city’s unique essence and beauty.
Derry’s approach to photographing Hong Kong is rooted in close attention to atmosphere – how the city feels as much as how it looks. His style often leans into the contrasts that define Hong Kong: light and shadow, motion and stillness, architecture and human scale.
The journey continues at Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong, 14 – 17 May 2026, where audiences can discover more about Derry Ainsworth’s work and gain insight into the process behind these compelling compositions.
