Follow our Artists' Patron route to discover galleries who showcase the works of young or emerging artists.
Our Affordable Art Fair New York Spring Route Guides help you navigate the fair with your personal taste in mind to ensure you find all of your favorites.
The Artists’ Patron Route Guide is perfect for you if you are always looking for your next opportunity to discover something new.
Take this route through the fair if you love to amplify emerging voices and help spread the word about their creative genius. Take a look at some of the brightest rising stars from the fair this Spring!
Start your route at the back of the Metropolitan Pavilion with Tourné Gallery, where you’ll be able to take a closer look at Llanor Alleyne’s layered collages. Inspired by themes of femininity, nature, and personal history, Alleyne’s bright and floral compositions will give you a spring in your step as you weave between the aisles.
Swing back around for a dive into the pixelated world of Aussie artist Cameron Forsyth at treat gallery’s colorful stand, where nostalgic aesthetics meet E number palettes. Think hot paintings for the super-cool, with works available in multiple sizes to fit your budget.
Realism with an injection of the contemporary is always a winner. Ian Rawling’s work offers the satisfying opportunity to marvel at the precision and detail needed to trick our brains in such an engrossing way – it’s hard to believe his “Tin Motorcyclist” is entirely created with pastels. There’ll be plenty of his observations of ordinary, everyday subjects to explore for yourself with Byard Art. 10/10 recommend.
We love to see self-taught artists come through at the fair. Chris Brook is a landscape-driven creative who seeks to capture the character of his home on the rugged East Coast of Scotland. Textural and full of drama, his work is a must-see for those of the patronage persuasion.
Dayana Beisenova is next on your list at Hudson River Art Collective. Just head up to Level 1 and you’ll find them at stand A11 where Beisenova’s unique works make for an adventure of the mixed media variety. Ethereal in nature, Beisenova uses her art to ‘speak’ to the viewer, creating personal connections by inviting you to assess your relationship to environment, emotions, and space.
Here is also a great place to take a break and relax amongst the art at our café and bar.
Bridgerton who? Don’t miss Francisca Ahlers at stand D2 for a trip back in time to the Baroque period, full of French fancy and maximalist whimsy. Here, simpler times are depicted in complex detail, with flourishes from the past that have a real freshness about them – perfect for those collectors seeking something new and exciting.
The collab of dreams. Pop art meets Chinese ink in Ding Wenqing’s work at FUCEAN X SUOMEI M50 Gallery, back up on Level 1. Provoking in nature, expect richly layered realism scenes inflected with the signature dialogue of Western 60s culture. Creative genius hands down.
Stay upstairs to get to know Margo Mc Daid, an Irish artist who’s career has captivated an admiring online cult audience. She’s known for hearty color and vintage charm, characterized by figurative and typographic elements. Our fair will see Margo’s new work debut in NYC and, given her work is famed for its sell-out nature, we’d recommend getting in their quick to see her full selection.
Local artist Scott Teplin forged an unlikely pathway into art as a teenager through a fascination with deconstructing fireworks and making homemade potato cannons. He cites these risky endeavours as cornerstones of his creative identity now. Given the playful and interrogative nature of his work today, we’d say this all checks out. At Brooklyn-based Thomas VanDyke’s stand (A10), the Artists’ Patron can expect a selection of Teplin’s work that will speak to a sense of wonderment.
Your Artists’ Patron’s route through the fair comes to an end with the aptly named ‘STOP!’ by Christine Randolph at Van Der Plas Gallery (D6). She utilizes her training as an art therapist to reach both hands right into your brain to stimulate your subconscious through her characterful drawings. A direct antidote to the worries of the world, expect humor, whimsy, and a whole lot of absurdist detail.
