To get ready for the 9th instalment of our Hong Kong fair, we introduce you to the team making the magic happen...
With the latest edition of Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong just around the corner, we thought it a good time to introduce team behind the fair!
Regina Zhang is our Fair Director and joined us in 2019.
With a degree of Video Media Arts, Regina has dedicated her years to a large-scale property company, overseeing art exhibitions, art acquisition and programming for Hong Kong and Guangzhou. She then worked in Shanghai producing branding work for the luxury goods sector.
“I love the way everyone comes together for the love of art. Sharing infinite ideas and inspirations, artists, gallerists, art lovers, friends and family having different experiences at the fair, bringing home their love at first sight.”
Fair Manager Mary Zhang is new to the team, having joined us in 2022.
Mary completed her master’s degree in Arts and Cultural Enterprise at Central Saint Martins (University of Arts London) and has worked in commercial art galleries (Pearl Lam Gallery, Art de Vivre) for five years. She’s also worke as an exhibition and fundraising event organiser, and was previously a member of the Asian Cultural Council under Rockefeller Foundation.
“I’m always impressed by the fun and welcoming atmosphere of Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong.
I love the idea of making art accessible to everyone. Art makes us happier and more satisfied with our lives. It’s not about the price; it’s about forming a community that appreciates artwork and enjoys the collecting process.”
Next up is our Fair Coordinator, Joanna Tsang, who joined us in 2021.
Joanna has a degree in cultural management, and is keen on exploring the art market and being a dedicated a professional art administrator. Starting as a gallery intern, she has been working on gallery liaison and detailed fair logistics.
She is also a self-taught artist who likes sketching the outdoors. You will probably encounter her sitting aside the street sketching during holidays!
“I love the concept of Affordable Art Fair – to make art accessible to the general public with happiness and joy. The most memorable moment of mine must be seeing the art pieces going to new homes from our fair, with big smiles on the new owners’ faces.”
Last, but by no means least, is Marketing Manager Cleo Tse who has been part of the team for 8 years.
With an international journalism degree, Cleo has always had a huge interest in art and thought Affordable Art Fair was just the place for her – somewhere welcoming and fun, where she could help people to fall (further) in love with art.
“Every year seeing the empty venue being built up one by one, gallery by gallery is so enjoyable. It’s a year-long project that finally gets to be shared with the public.
Seeing visitors going into the hall, amazed by 1000s of artworks, installations and exhibitors is the best reward. From advertisements around town and interviews with gallerists, artists and the Fair Director, to promotion across different media and glowing customer survey comments: everything tells us we’ve done the fair right, we’ve helped art find a happy home with very happy visitors! “
Thanks to the Hong Kong Fair team for sharing a bit about their time at Affordable Art Fair! Join us at our upcoming fair in Hong Kong 4 – 7 August 2022 to discover a wealth of affordable, original and contemporary artworks to fall in love with.
