Choosing favourites at an art fair is never easy. From quiet photographic encounters to expressive abstraction, lush botanical paintings and dreamlike figurative scenes, these works from Affordable Art Fair Stockholm 2026 demonstrate the variety and accessibility that make building an art collection so rewarding.
Blythe’s pick
This figurative painting by Marc Figueras has been quietly finding a place in the art collection that lives in my mind since I spotted it in the application from Stockholm-based Maria Vulfovitch Gallery.
For me there’s a magical transformation that takes place when an artist captures a moment or motif that occurs in our everyday life and, through the care and skill required to paint, elevates it. The moment becomes almost sacred through this process.
And then, when I found out, the title is ‘Alice’s Dream’, I fell even more in love with it. My best friend’s called Alice and I love the idea of hanging this artwork by my desk at home so that ‘Alice’ can keep me company and inspire me while I’m working.
“”In my role at Affordable Art Fair, I spend a huge amount of time looking at a lot of people both ‘IRL’ (in real life) and in photographs, looking at art. I’m always wondering ‘who are they?’, ‘how are they feeling?’ and ‘would they like to take that artwork home?’”
Charlotte’s pick
Anna Förster’s Beautiful Disorientation, presented by Artist Arena, transforms the canvas into a richly layered field of colour, texture and organic forms. Pink, red, blue, orange and earthy brown passages overlap in a composition that feels both playful and instinctive, while the loose, drawn quality of the oil pastels adds a sense of movement. It would be a vibrant centrepiece in a collection, particularly when paired with more restrained paintings or works that share its interest in abstraction, landscape and the expressive potential of colour.

Quiet Edge by Tomas Becker Larson draws me in with its flowing, leaf-like form, where warm grain and softly carved contours create a sense of movement that changes from every angle.
Brought to us by Galleri Hammar, its organic presence feels both grounded and poetic, offering a tactile counterpoint to more graphic or conceptual works in my collection. I would collect it for the way it brings material, craftsmanship, and quiet emotion into the room—inviting a slower, more attentive way of looking.

Saskia’s pick
I love these two paintings by Fresh at the Fair artist, Maria Bordeanu, who we’ve invited to show at Affordable Art Fair Stockholm for the first time.
Titled Foliage I and Foliage II, you could view (and take them home!) as individual works or as a pair, installing them as a diptych should you like.
The crisp blue sky in the background and warm notes of sunlight falling on the leaves and flowers transports me to a summer day, lounging on a picnic rug gazing up at the sky, enjoying the sun and summer breeze.
These works evoke a warm but nostalgic feeling for me, as I reminisce on past summers in recent years but also in my childhood.
“The beauty of viewing works of art is that each person has their own experience, connotations and memories that might be sparked. I wonder what feelings and associations these paintings will spark for the lucky person who decides to take these home from the fair.”
Marin’s pick
Brought to us by Galleri Egnell, Linda Ljungblad’s Lugnetstimma captures the quiet atmosphere of a harbour at rest.
Painted in delicate washes of blue, grey, cream and muted ochre, the work depicts boats and distant masts dissolving gently into the surrounding light. The loose watercolour technique gives the scene a sense of movement and impermanence, as though the image has been observed during a brief pause between changing weather and tides.
Its calm palette and spacious composition make it a naturally soothing work to live with, while the subtle reflections in the water reward closer viewing.
“This piece stood out to me most because it reminds me of Larnaca Marina in Cyprus. While others might focus on the buzz and chaos, I see the stillness within it – it’s where I feel most grounded and at home. I don’t love it because it looks like my hometown; I love it because it feels like it to me. And that’s the magic of art.”
Cleo’s pick
Gabriel Isak’s photographic work offers a quiet, cinematic encounter between two figures standing beneath a pale moon. The objects in the artwork create a sense of distance, intimacy and contemplation, inviting the viewer to imagine the story unfolding between them.
Its square format and calm visual language make it especially versatile for a home, whether displayed independently or alongside works exploring solitude, relationships or the human condition.
As part of a collection, the work presented by Kliger Gallery could provide a meditative pause between more colourful or heavily textured pieces.
