Find incredible art on a budget with our tour of galleries exhibiting works under £500 at Affordable Art Fair, Battersea Autumn 2024. In partnership with JM Finn.
If you’re just starting out your collection and are looking for amazing artworks that won’t break the bank, look no further than our Under £500 route guide, brought to you by our Lead Partner, JM Finn. It’s a walk-along tour of the best affordable pieces at our Battersea Autumn fair (16 – 20 October). Let’s go!
To help make finding your dream artwork even easier, head up to the mezzanine to our Finds Under £500 display, in partnership with JM Finn. The display brings together a curated selection of artworks from across our amazing exhibiting galleries. Whilst you’re here, pick up a copy of JM Finn’s helpful guide to investing in art. Featured artworks include the beautiful Orange and White Koy Pair by Paul Fearn of No Naked Walls Gallery, and Jayson Lilley’s Meet Me At Battersea, a super-cool silkscreen print on vintage London A-Z map, with gold leaf, represented by Select Gallery.
First stop is Iona House Gallery to take a look at Cat Santo’s touching sculpture You Are My Rock. Cat is a ceramicist and print maker who explores various techniques for adding print to clay. Her imagery often revolves around people in spaces, exploring the scale of the environment, aiming to capture moments of wonder that highlight the experience of living on this planet, and grappling with the vast knowledge that science continues to reveal about humanity and the world.
Just a short wander down the aisle and we arrive at Art Friend, one of our friendliest galleries! Stocking original prints and paintings to suit every budget, we love these quirky artworks by Craig Keenan and Adam Bartlett, pictured below.
Next up on our whistle stop tour is Raquelle Azran Vietnamese Fine Art. La Ba Quan’s striking distorted portraits are achieved by painting with thick layers of paint, often directly from the tube using a palette knife. Since 2005, La Ba Quan has been working on a series of portraits named The emotion of an old man, inspired by his father who endured hardship and poverty during the war time.
Round the corner to the next aisle and you’ll find East London Printmakers, a treasure trove of options under £500 from accomplished printmakers and long standing members of the studio.
Look out for Vanessa Short, who’s beautiful photography of iconic London locations document social history, specifically the transformation over time of industries, communities and the environment.
Next stop is Arc Fine Arts, highlighting British artists working today with a strong emphasis on Limited Edition works and works on paper. With artworks ranging from Melanie Bellis’ urban and industrialised landscapes, to Tim Southhall’s autumnal Out with the Dogs, there’s something here to suit every taste and place.
Just down the aisle to our last stop is Mae Gallery, to see Katie Munro’s stunning graphite drawings. Currently working and living in Portsmouth, Katie creates drawings and paintings in a variety of different media, such as oil and watercolour paints, charcoal and pastel. Her latest paintings and drawings have focused on the figure in motion, experimenting with mark making or simple lines to represent the energy and shapes made by the body.
And with that, our tour of artworks under £500 is complete! But don’t worry, there are 1,000s more on offer at Affordable Art Fair Battersea Autumn! And, if that’s whet your appetite, why not have a read of JM Finn’s helpful guide to collecting art, available on their website.
We hope you have a great time exploring Affordable Art Fair Battersea Autumn from 16 – 20 October. If you haven’t booked your tickets yet, you know what to do…
