Meet the exhibitors making their Affordable Art Fair debuts this spring!
Marie Jose Gallery champions emerging and mid-career artists with a special focus on the Middle East and Africa. Expect a carefully curated selection of exceptional artists from Lebanon and the Ivory Coast at Marie Jose Gallery‘s stand, including self-taught Ivorian painter and sculptor Souleyman Konate. Souleyman began exploring new ways of expression during the early 2000s, when severe political crises shook Côte d’Ivoire. He mixes bright, contrasting colours through collage – colours that most might shy away from – yet the compositions remain harmonious and balanced.
M1 Fine Art will be bringing new, original paintings to the fair by Lewis Hazelwood-Horner. Horner is the youngest elected member of the RBA with an impressive career to date, including having exhibited at the Palazzo di Strozzi in Florence, alongside Picasso and Kandinsky. His appreciation for craftsmanship has led to a focus on capturing workers in action, with farmers, fishmongers, and blacksmiths taking centre stage in his paintings.
Prescription Art will be joining our roster this spring to showcase new work including surreal, original collages by Lola Dupre and an incredible mirrored sculpture by Arran Gregory – never seen before. Don’t miss Lola Dupre’s ‘Theatre des Bouffes du Nord’ series – her collages are intricately made up of multiples of the same image, resulting in surreal, lovable portraits referencing the Dada movement of the early 20th century and digital manipulations of the present day.
We’re thrilled to be welcoming CHRISTINE X CURATED from Malta, who are bringing an impressive roster of new artists to the fair including Mario Abela, Rupert Cefai, and Jacob Sammut. From their line-up for this year’s Battersea Spring fair, we’re especially taken by Mario Abela’s work, who considers concepts of time, memory, and chance.
Pigment Gallery was founded in Barcelona with the intention to connect with an audience sensitive to the changes taking place in the world, including climate change, education, and empowerment of women. Don’t miss artworks by Anke Blaue and Juan Escudero, whose pieces are created with great technical delicacy. Anke uses minimal expression of just one colour and its slight nuances of light. The result is in the ideal of abstract as a universal expression of everything – a pure revelation of art!
Galerie Neuland from Germany will be joining us with a fantastic roster of artists, including Ukrainian born painter Irina Bugoslavsa, who creates abstract works with an emphasis on three-dimensional textures and reflections. Her paintings are sometimes realistic, sometimes surreal, and often both at the same time.
Visiting us from South Korea, Gallery Millcreek pose cutting-edge ideas and techniques with a huge range of art styles. We’re excited to see work by Hyunjoong Kim in the flesh, who uses unique materials to tackle themes of distorted memories.
Be sure to come and say hello to all our new exhibitors in person at Affordable Art Fair, Battersea Spring, from 9 – 12 March. Book in advance to avoid missing out!
