La Mercantil was founded in October 2021 in Mexico City—in Coyoacán, a historic cradle of artists and cultural exchange—as an open platform for dialogue and connection between artists and collectors. Its creation builds on more than 20 years of experience in the art world, as well as extensive work activatingpublic spaces in collaboration with Salones Des Aztecas.

From its inception, La Mercantil has focused on building meaningful bridges between creators and audiences, supporting artists whose practices are internationally recognized and whose work is exhibited in some of the world’s most important museums.

Through a global network of institutional partners, curators, and galleries, La Mercantil maintains active exchanges of exhibitions worldwide, positioning itself as a trusted platform for collectors seeking artistic excellence and solid investment opportunities. Today, La Mercantil is expanding its presence to Austin,Texas, strengthening its international reach and fostering new connections between artists, collectors, and institutions across borders.
