Krakow Witkin Gallery

Krakow Witkin Gallery has been dedicated to exhibiting contemporary art in Boston since 1959. Located on Newbury Street near the Public Garden since 1983, the gallery presents three shows simultaneously. During each cycle, there is one larger show, one smaller show and one show of a single work. This juxtaposition of types of exhibition gives viewers three different rigorous contexts in which to view work and consider suggest: different approaches to presentation.

While broad in scope, the gallery’s exhibition programming is grounded in a commitment to an extensive, yet focused group of artists known as part of the movements commonly called “Minimalism” and/or “conceptual art,” along with younger artists who, working with reductivist aesthetics, have come to prominence anytime from the 1960s to the present.

The gallery champions variety, exploration, and depth all while working encouraging and welcoming all viewers by demystifying contemporary art and providing an educationally-rich, friendly, open, and welcome environment in which to observe, study and learn about the art and artists.
