The INSELGALERIE Berlin is a project of the non-profit Berliner Fraueninitiative Xanthippe e. V., founded in 1993 with the mission of promoting and strengthening the visibility of women in the arts. Two years after its establishment, the association took over the Inselgalerie to create a dedicated public platform for female artists.
Located in Berlin-Friedrichshain, the gallery has become one of the most important German institutions consistently presenting artistic positions by women. Its program spans generations and genres, with a particular focus on younger artists, while fostering dialogue with established figures. Through exhibitions and accompanying events, the Inselgalerie actively challenges the underrepresentation of women in the art world and advocates for equal recognition of their artistic achievements.
