Xin Art's story began in China in 2007 during the Canton International Fair. The gallery was then established on the picturesque Ile de Ré at the heart of the village Ars-en-Ré.
Alexandra Planas trained in London at Sotheby's Institute of Art where she focused her ambitions on presenting exceptional Street Art as well as work by emerging artists. In addition to her gallery programme, Alexandra specialises in putting on site-specific exhibitions outside the gallery space at locations including an eighteenth century townhouse in La Rochelle which can be visited by appointment.
The Xin Art ethos is all about making art accessible to all and involving the local community in projects such as workshops for local schoolchildren and holidaymakers as well as inmates from the local prison. In 2014, street artist Jef Aerosol worked with Xin Art on the project "In Out", producing a fresco for the prison courtyard as well a group exhibition of his works and those of the inmates.
