Hey, Lovebirds!
Whether you’re partners, best friends, or in a ride-or-die duo, here are our top five tips for buying art together.
1. Set a date (and a budget) 💕
If you’re planning to buy art as a duo, we recommend setting aside 2 to 3 hours for your first visit. That’s enough time to explore the fair, soak it all in, and most importantly, take a well-earned break for a coffee or a glass of wine on your art-filled date.
2. Split up (temporarily) 🧐
Once you arrive, take a solo lap around the fair as it’s a great way to get a feel for what catches your eye. As you weave through the aisles, snap photos of your favorite pieces and jot down the stand number and gallery name. When you regroup, you can compare notes and see where your tastes align.
3. Be curious, not critical ❓
Art has a way of tapping into the deepest parts of our unconscious. Use this time browsing artworks as a chance to learn more about your partner. Ask them why a particular piece speaks to them. You might be surprised by what you discover!
4. Curate and converse 🖼️
Together, choose five artworks from each other’s list that you’d like to explore further. This is your chance to embark on a second round as art buyers. Take the time to ask gallerists more detailed questions about the pieces that caught your eye, as you never know what insights might deepen your connection to the art or each other.
5. Build your collection together ❤️
Whether you make joint decisions on all the artworks you collect or creatively combine your individual pieces, an art collection for your home becomes a monument to human connection. Let buying art serve as a visual reminder of both your personal journeys and your commitment to sharing your lives together.
What are you waiting for! Grab two early bird tickets today and save 30% on general admission*

Take a look inside the creative studio of Aidan Weichard!
Using large, gestural brushstrokes, Aidan brings to life a blank canvas, transforming it into colourful scenes of flowers or countryside animals. Growing up surrounded by bushland and now living amidst the vast, rolling hills of Gippsland, Aidan’s work is a heartfelt celebration of the native land and its rich inhabitants. We can’t help but relish in each artwork Aidan creates, radiating a sense movement and energy that’s simply impossible to ignore.
Aidan will be joining us at the second edition of our Brisbane fair alongside AJAA Design this 8 – 11 May
at the Brisbane Showgrounds Exhibition Building.

Established in 1948, Ernabella Arts is Australia’s oldest, continuously running Indigenous Art Centre. Ernabella Arts is in Pukatja Community, at the eastern end of the Musgrave Ranges in the far north west of South Australia.
The first craft products were hand-loomed woven fabrics and hand-pulled and knotted floor rugs with a unique pattern that became known as ‘the Ernabella walka’ or anapalayaku walka (Ernabella’s design). In recent years, long after commencing working as artists, senior women decided to leave behind the walka of the early days and to depict their Tjukurpa (sacred stories of country and law). The centre’s inimitable reputation lies in the adaptability and innovation of the artists who have been introduced to many different mediums since the craft room began. Today its varied group of artists is a mix of young and old, men and women.
Ernabella Arts is an Aboriginal owned and run corporation which promotes and supports ethical practice in the creation and sale of Indigenous art. Ernabella Arts is showcased by Yaama Ganu, who will be joining us at Affordable Art Fair in Brisbane this 8 - 11 May.

Tetyana Khytko is a Ukrainian-born, Sydney-based painter who uses allegory to express her thoughts and feelings, with objects like roads, bikes, and broken umbrellas symbolising life’s journey, anxiety, and heartbreak. Initially trained in architecture and graphic design, she rediscovered her passion for painting after moving to New Zealand in 2000.
Tetyana’s artwork springs directly from her sketches, with little alteration, and captures her deep connection to the colour green. Since relocating to Australia in 2010, her evolving palette has embraced new influences, offering a fresh perspective on her creative process.
Tetyana will be exhibiting with Creative Room Art Gallery at Affordable Art Fair Brisbane this 8 - 11 May.
