How to Travel to the Fair?
We invite all our visitors to embrace our sustainability initiative by using public transport to attend Affordable Art Fair. By opting for buses, trains, or bicycles, you help reduce traffic congestion and lower your carbon footprint. It’s also a wonderful way to experience the city’s atmosphere on your way to the event!
Public Transportation:
Plan your trip today using PTV’s Journey Planner.
Transport options include:
- Tram route 86 or tram route 96 to Stop 11 Melbourne Museum, corner of Nicholson and Gertrude Streets (Some tips to stay safe while on board or around trams)
- Free City Circle Tram to Victoria Parade
- City loop train to Parliament Station
- Bus routes 250, 251 and 402 to Rathdowne Street
- Making a trip to the city? Take a V/Line train
Bike:
Local bicycle facilities include bike lanes on Rathdowne St and Canning St. There is also a shared pedestrian/bike path on Nicholson St. Bicycle racks on the Plaza provide ample bike parking just outside the front door.
Parking:
There is paid parking for the Royal Exhibition Building located under Melbourne Museum. This facility is open 5:30am to midnight daily. Enter via Rathdowne Street or Nicholson Street.
Terms and conditions apply. All rates include GST. Lost tickets incur maximum day rate. This car park is under 24-hour video surveillance. Payment is card only. Book your car park online.
ACCESSIBILITY
Do Disability Carers need a specific ticket type?
Disability carers do not require a separate ticket from the attendee. Please let our staff at the ticket desk or entrance know that you are a companion or carer and you will be escorted through the entrance.
Accessible Parking
Paid parking for the Royal Exhibition Building is located under Melbourne Museum. This car park contains a number of accessible spaces on level P2 including pram parking. Please be aware that the car park entrance has a height restriction of 2.15m. Accessible parking for vehicles over this limit is located on Rathdowne Street. Book your car park online.
Is Affordable Art Fair fully accessible for people with reduced mobility?
Yes, Affordable Art Fair Melbourne is fully accessible for to people with reduced mobility. The fair is located on the ground floor of the venue, with step-free access.

FAMILY AND CHILDREN
Do children under 16 need a ticket?
No, children 16 and younger can visit the fair for free! Simply register a complimentary children’s pass during checkout in our ticket shop.
What activities can my family do at the fair?
We want to inspire the next generation of art lovers and have a range of family fun available for all ages. Free faceprinting, colouring sheets, artist murals, live-painting demonstrations, installations and more await for you and your loved-ones at the fair.
What ammenities are available for breastfeeding parents?
We have breastfeeding rooms for parents to use during their visit conveniently located near our Children’s Art Studio, a hub for families at the fair.
THE FAIR EXPERIENCE
Are dogs allowed at the fair?
No. While we love our furry friends, pets are not allowed at the fair.
Can I buy art during the VIP preview?
Yes! We pride ourselves on the dynamic feel of our fair, with visitors able to buy art straight off the wall and take it home.
Planning a visit later in the week? Not to worry – fresh art is rotated in our gallery stands, meaning there is plenty of art to fall in love with all fair long.
Does the fair offer a free on-site wrapping service for purchased artworks?
Yes, we will be offering a free on-site wrapping service for all your purchased artworks so you can take it home and enjoy straight away.
Is there catering at the fair? Can I have lunch or dinner at the fair?
Yes absolutely, we have award-winning food and beverage on-site with lots of delicious options for all dietary requirements so you can refresh and refuel at the fair.
I saw a piece of art / an artist I liked at the fair, how can I find out who it / they were?
Fantastic! Please send us an email and send us as much detail as you can – if possible, describe the artwork colour, size, style (abstract, still life etc.), medium (painting, photograph, sculpture etc.), gallery name or the approximate location of the gallery. If you have a photo of the artwork please attach it to the email as this will speed up the process.
Will I be photographed or filmed during my visit?
Photography or filming takes place at all Affordable Art Fair events. It is common practice and helps us to inspire future visitors to discover the joy of collecting art. For more information on our Photography and Filming policy, click here.

VIP Preview (by invitation only)
Thursday 28 August: 12pm – 5pm
Public Opening Hours
Opening Night: Thursday 28 August: 5pm – 9pm
Friday 29 August: 10am – 9pm
Saturday 30 August: 10am – 5pm
Sunday 31 September: 10am – 5pm
I have an Opening Night ticket; can I attend the VIP Preview?
Opening Night tickets do not grant attendance to the VIP Preview. Opening Night tickets are four-day passes, with entry starting at 5pm on 29 August for Opening Night celebrations.
Is my ticket refundable?
No, unfortunately tickets to the fair are not refundable.
How can I retrieve lost tickets for Affordable Art Fair?
You will now need to download the free Eventbrite app to access your fair tickets. Log in using the email address you used when registering and select the ticket icon at the bottom of the screen to view your tickets. Please have the QR code ready for scanning on arrival as this will ensure your entry into the fair is as seamless as possible.
