'Collecting art - The great passion'
What does art mean to me? Why would I want to own art? How do I recognise quality? How do I start collecting art? What makes a collector?
Collecting art is a passion as old as time, and yet the subject is inexhaustible. To help answer these questions and more, we have invited art experts, including Hamburg art collector and patron Nikolaus W. Schües (Art Foundation Christa and Nikolaus Schües) and Lisa Zeitz (Editor-in-Chief Weltkunst) to talk togethter with Dr. Anna Schwan (Schwan Communications) about the art of collecting.
Saturday 17 November, 3pm
The Art Talk will take place at the bar.
This year, we are celebrating the 7th anniversary of the Emerging Artists exhibition - an essential component of Affordable Art Fair Hamburg.
The theme of the exhibition is a 'System of Signs' and the exhibition will be showcasing the work of three outstanding young artists from the University of Fine Arts Hamburg: Astrid Ehlers, Anneke Kleimann and Lars Hinrichs.
A limited edition catalogue will be also published by the Seltmann+Söhne publishing house with contributions from Ifee Tack, Friederike Quander and Kim Sulinski. The edition of 200 copies will be available for interested collectors at the Emerging Artists exhibition booth, as well as at the information counter.
The exhibition is curated by Isabel Deimel and sponsored by Heiko Harms.
The exhibition is located next to Stand H9.
If you are visiting the fair with children aged between 2 – 10 years, why not bring them to our free of charge Kids Space where they can get arty! Hosted by our expert art educators, your mini-Picasso's can enjoy a number of creative activities designed to teach children how to be artistic in a playful way.
Saturday 17 November, 11am - 8pm
Sunday 18 November, 11am - 6pm
The kids space is free of charge and only requires on site registration.
Every day at the fair you can join the free screen printing workshops run by artist collective We Are Visual. Get creative and print your own designs onto t-shirts and bags, taking home your very own masterpiece! Jute bags will be provided at the fair, but if you'd rather print onto t-shirts or other textiles, just bring your chosen material along with you.
Thursday 15 November - Sunday 18 November, 2pm and 4pm

Our Sponsor Partner for a whopping seventh year running is Millerntor Gallery, who supports the work and water projects of Viva con Agua de Sankt Pauli e.V. - a non-profit organisation committed to ensuring that all people worldwide have access to clean drinking water and sanitation.
Every year, the Millerntor Stadium turns into an open platform for dialogue and exchange on a local, international and intercultural level. Artworks of various genres as well as a diverse musical, cultural and educational program reflect the different ways in which everyone can positively change the world.
Much of the proceeds of the Millerntor Gallery goes directly into these diverse projects and this initiative shows their commitment to how the world can be positively shaped.
