At this year’s 15th edition of Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam, we will be celebrating the wonders of textile art with eye-catching installations from artists Yamuna Forzani and Mariadela Araujo. Represented by local Amsterdam-based Rademakers Gallery, these talented emerging artists will be bringing vibrancy and the very best of ‘rainbow spirit’ to de Kromhouthal this year. So make sure to look up and gaze at the captivating textile installations.
The gallery will also be presenting works of both artists at their stand (A19). To learn more about the work and life of the bold queer activist artist, Yamuna Forzani, click here to read our interview.
SCOOP BY RAIDER
The young Amsterdam-based artist Raider will be presenting a giant SCOOP balloon sculpture. This adorable creature will be watching over the fun of the fair. Raider represents a new generation of young artists who are changing the market with new, fresh and extraordinary ideas about the nature, creation and techniques of art. Raider will also present silk prints and miniature sculptures at Wanrooij Gallery‘s stand (D1).
A dynamic event, intended for an enthusiastic public, the Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam can be enjoyed alone, with friends, colleagues or family members from any and every generation…
In order to offer an optimal family visit experience, we are offering a Family Preview, on the morning of Saturday 30 October at 10:00. On this occasion, the show will open its doors one hour earlier than normal for families with children and babies in their strollers.
Families can enjoy the fun of the fair in crowd-free, relaxed conditions, enabling them to take full advantage of the various stands and share the meaningful experience of collecting art together as a family.
Don’t miss our Late View on Friday 29 October. Open until 22:00, you’ll fall in love with our 67 galleries, as well as the impressive textile installations by Yamuna Forzani and Mariadela Araujo, Raider’s giant Scoop and delicious food by Lulu&Co and drinks at one of our bars. It’s the perfect arty night out to reconnect with friends on a Friday evening after work.
Joining us from outside Amsterdam? Our partner hotel Holiday Inn Express Amsterdam – North Riverside is located only a few steps from de Kromhouthal.
Join mixed-media artist Veerle Symoens for a unique collage workshop, supported by WOTH, filled with short and playful tasks that will help you tune into your natural instinct for colour, shape and composition. Playfulness is at the heart of Veerle’s creative process and failure does not exist. You’ll return home filled with inspiration and with your own intuitive art work to proudly display!
Veerle’s own journey to becoming an artist began during her time working in PR and journalism, when she started instinctively tearing eye-catching images from the huge number of magazines that crossed her hands. She then set to work with scissors, glue, paints and markers to create very personal compositions from the images. Her colourful, abstract and intuitive works are exhibited and sold worldwide, from Antwerp to Paris, London, Spain, New York, San Francisco and we’re delighted she will be leading a workshop at our fair!
