Vienna has long been on our radar as a city renowned for its rich cultural history and vibrant contemporary art scene. It offers the perfect backdrop for the newest edition of Affordable Art Fair and, after continued growth and success in Europe, we’re looking forward to inviting exhibitors to join us at the impressive MARX HALLE from May 22 – 25, 2025.

Why Vienna?

This is an ideal time to launch in beautiful Vienna, where eclectic tradition combines with an openness that is well-suited to selling contemporary art. This sense of a strong heritage and rich culture is exciting in itself, but when mixed with Vienna’s forward-facing, receptive audience, it’s clear the art scene is amenable to transformation. There is strong interest for an Affordable Art Fair in the city and we’ll be filling an open space in the market. Vienna hosts multiple art fairs annually, but none that cater for collectors seeking affordable contemporary art. We intend to offer these collectors, both established and next generation, a place where they’re confident to buy.

In Vienna, locals are already immersed in art. There is so much art in the city, and people invest their time in taking part in cultural events. Unlike launch fairs with young, untapped art markets, Vienna is a city where locals are educated and interested in all avenues of the arts, from opera to museums, live music to architecture. We will actively pull this group of people, as well as new demographics, such as families with disposable income.

For years, Vienna has been listed as the best place to live in Europe – an accolade it’s rightly proud of. The economy is strong, as is education, healthcare, and general quality of life. Thus, people from all over the world are attracted to live in Vienna. The variety of culture that comes naturally with a city that inspires so many visitors is an essential reason for our choice to set up an Affordable Art Fair here.

First impressions of the fair

MARX HALLE is a beautiful industrial building known and loved by locals. It’s recognised as a key venue for art fairs and cultural events, and this familiarity will serve well to drive people to our first fair. Located just outside the city centre, MARX HALLE is easily accessible and just fifteen minutes from the main travel hubs – it’s a place where locals can come, get dressed up, and feel confident they’re attending a must-see event in Vienna’s art calendar. High ceilings and plenty of natural light will make all the difference to your presentation, showcasing the artwork in your stand to the highest possible standard. We think it’s the perfect venue and securing it for our fair is testament to our brand’s reputation across Europe.

Who are our audience?

Our audience will largely be Austrian citizens, whether they have a home in Vienna itself, or travel in from regional cities. Tastes will be international and, whilst visitors will be very used to local Austrian artist names, they’ll be looking to see what’s happening elsewhere in the world. The audience aesthetic fits the eclectic mix of Berlin’s underground art scene with wealthier tastes in cities such as Zurich or Hamburg, with a complementary amalgamation of modern with vintage, grandeur with industrial. This means we can appeal to an older, experienced art audience whilst attracting an edgier group of next generation collectors.

Most importantly, there’s excitement for an Affordable Art Fair to come to Austria. People in Vienna are proud of their city and feel seen by our entry into the market. We’re seen as a professional, serious and progressive business and, where art fairgoers might be used to eye-watering prices, they’ll be thrilled to find an event that caters to their budget. Rather than browsing tiny canvases costing over five-figures, they’ll be able to gravitate towards larger pieces to fill their walls. Everyone in Vienna grows up with art, and at our launch event, they’ll soon be able to take some home.
