Ze Ze Lai was born in Hong Kong. Her expertise as a watercolour artist is painting animals, with birds in particular. Through her distinctive manipulation of brushwork and water techniques, she creates dream-like and mystical scenes, capable of bringing her viewers on a journey and voyage through their imagination. It is through the creation of its atmosphere, the different feelings of happiness, sadness or spontaneity are brought out and experienced with the viewer. Ze Ze’s work has been widely exhibited all over the world and has won numerous awards. She was crowned Wildlife Artist of the Year 2020, in the wings category from the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation in London; the winner of the Tirana International Watercolour Biennale in 2020 and Thailand’s Watercolour Exposition in 2016. As an advocate for watercolour and the arts, Ze Ze joined the International Watercolour Society in 2015. Since then, she has put tremendous effort into the organisation, a society with over 110 country branches around the world. Currently serving as the Vice President of this society, exhibitions, watercolour events like workshops and seminars are organised, promoted and these are encouraging to art enthusiasts and professional artists alike to take part in the sharing and learning of this art form.
