Veit Schmidleitner was born in Ludwigshafen, Germany in 1985. From 2008 - 2011 he studied graphic design in Marbella, Spain. Upon his return to Germany he worked as a post producer for photography and film, and started working with metal through his father and mentor Günter De Rosa.
Schmidleitner’s studio 'Quantum Oddity' was founded with Günter de Rosa in 2013 and is also the base for painter Marc Pilgaard Nielsen, visual artist Frank Hoffmann and photographer Linda Dajana Krueger. Quantum Oddity describes the correlation between the act of creating and building something out of nothing; to strive for the new and the unseen; to question everything.
Solo exhibitions include 'A Little Bit of History Repeating', Studio Quantum Oddity, Ludwigshafen, Germany (2016), ' Ex Libris', Consulate of Latvia, Saint Etienne, France (2015) and 'Solar-System Wasserturm', Mannheim, Germany (2011). Weinstrasse, Germany (2016) and 'Contemporary Art Ruhr' - C.A.R., Zeche Zollverein, Germany (2016).
Schmidleitner has also been commissioned for public sculptures including 'Leikakugel', Leitz-Park, Wetzlar, Germany (2012), 'Stainless Steel Sphere', Court house, Guadalajara Jalisco, Mexico (2011) and 'Globe', Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics GmbH, Marburg,Germany (2011).
