Ruth Schleeh works are abstract, mostly in large formats, using a mix of materials such as acrylic, wax, sand, bitumen and stone chips.
She likes to layer her paintings, which are partially removed over and over. As a result, her works acquire depth, where opposites meet, such as rough and smooth surfaces, light, dark, pasty and translucent, dynamic and calm, harmonious yet discordant. Discontinuous dynamics are sometimes generated by the addition of individual strong color elements, but always also by the varying paint application, which is sometimes wiping, sometimes scratching, sometimes drop shaped. There are highs and lows in life and that is reflected in Ruth’s original works of art.
