Ron Lawson’s love of drawing began at a young age. From doodling on any paper he could get his hands on as a youngster to his teenage years where he began to combine his enjoyment of both films and art by painting his own versions of cinema posters. From these posters Lawson created a large portfolio which earned him a job at 16 years old in the art studio where he continued to work happily for 34 years.
Before deciding to paint professionally, most of Lawson’s time would be spent training for marathons or cycling. He is very much look forward to getting back out on his bike as he has currently directed all his energy towards his painting.
The inspiration for his work is taken from the Highlands. He enjoys returning regularly to St Kilda as it is impossible to capture such beauty in one day. Lawson believes that to paint the subject he needs to experience the places in the flesh. He wishes to continue exploring and creating new works from his adventures.
