Martina Hamrik was born in 1967 in Kenzingen near Freiburg.
Her artwork is inspired by the dynamism of sport and physical activity; her paintings aim to reflect that pronounced elegance and natural beauty of people in movement. Martina states that she wants her characters to almost come to life, therefore to make her images three-dimensional. Dr. Barbara Aust-Wegemund, art historian in Hamburg, writes that Martina’s brushstrokes are “applied forcefully, making the compositions convey vitality and dynamism”.
Since 2007, Martina has exhibited her works in fairs, galleries and collections all around the world.
