“Painting outside brings everything in creation and nature together: - bird song, wind, fragrance, calm, motion, and outstretched space. Here one experiences that creation and nature are actually one. A truly intense experience to be completely concentrated for hours on end outdoors painting.”

Mark van Praagh was educated at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam as a painter and graphic artist. His work is both two and three dimensional. Mark exhibits regularly both within and outside The Netherlands. His artwork is part of many collections. Architecture, trees, grass, and leaves as well as freestyle calligraphic letters are recurring themes in his work. He is fascinated by the dynamics of rhythm and repetition, which appear and reappear in the leaves and grass in his paintings, in the ladders and towers in his driftwood sculptures, in the hidden signs and symbols in his freestyle calligraphy, even at times in his more abstract, rhythmic watercolors. Mark is versatile and commands many techniques: oil paint, watercolor, graphic techniques along with spatial artwork crafted in beach and driftwood collected along Greek coastlines. In addition to his creative artwork, Mark works on assignment as a portrait painter. In the AAF Mark exhibits some of his outdoor paintings
