Biography

Louise Fairchild is a London based fine art painter. She graduated from Reading University with a BA in Fine Art after completing a Foundation year at Sheffield Art College.

Louise's main interest is in the solitude and isolation of remote extreme scenery where she attempts to capture the drama and light of the sea, land, and sky. Her paintings are predominately large scale. She creates texture with the oil before applying many layers of translucent oil glazes. The use of metallic pigment in the under layers catch the light as you move around the painting.

She has worked both as an illustrator and artist worldwide for many years and has completed commissions for many large companies including British Airways, Barclays Bank PLC, The Home Office, Fortnum and Mason, Bloomsbury Publishing, Boots the Chemist, Blass Wine Estates, Random House Publishing, Woolwich Building Society and Marks and Spencer PLC.

Louise has exhibited widely throughout the UK and the United States at galleries including Turner Barnes, The Art Agency, Lena Boyle Gallery and at a number of international art fairs. Both her landscape works and figurative work are now part of many art collections in these two countries.
