Kuno Vollet studied at Kunsthochschule Kassel, where he was a student of prominent crystal glaze master, Professor Werner Gnegel. A lot of what Kuno learnt with Gnegel now transpires throughout his practice, in particular in his Creatio series where the process of crystal glazing creates delicate forms crystal-like forms in the inner section of the disk.
Circles are a recurring theme in Kuno's work. They refer to ancient Greek and Indian philosophy where the circle refers to life - the Circle of Life. By extrapolation, Kuno's work also refers to atomic physics where the electron dance around the nucleus and to the cell that is at the centre of organic life. This scientific aspect to the philosophical reference to circularity in Kuno's work transpires in the fabrication process of crystal glazing.
