Kate Scott (b.1955) trained at the University of Exeter (1973-76) and the City and Guilds School of Art (1976-79). She obtained her Ceramic Diploma in 1997 and became a professional member of the Craft Potters Association in 2005.
Kate worked as a lettering artist and designer in publishing for many years, moving into ceramics in the early nineties and subsequently collage. Today she works as both artist and potter. Her most recent work is abstract collage, using acrylic and watercolour. Each piece seeks to find an energy and balance between weights, colours, and edges both hard and soft. She uses tissues and Japanese papers allowing for the layering of colour so that a sense of depth can be achieved.
Kate has participated in numerous group exhibitions including: The Affordable Art Fair, Hampstead (2019); The Dovedale Festival, Cumbria (2018); 'The Discerning Eye' at the Mall Galleries (2018); ‘An orchestra of letters’ Snape, Suffolk (2017); Ceramic Art London, RCA (2010/13/14); Contemporary Ceramics Centre, Bloomsbury (2012/16) and Ceramic Art London, Somerset House (2005/07). She was also one of three artists shown at the exhibition 'Splash' at The Bankside Gallery, London, 2018. Honours and awards include Winner of St Cuthberts Mill Award, The RWS Contemporary Watercolour Competition (2019).
