Kate Beagan is an Irish artist who lives in Co. Managhan. Her love of oils developed at the early age of 12 when her brother, seeing her interest in art, bought her an oil painting set. Now a contemporary landscape artist with over 25 years’ experience, Beagan has developed a style that is instantly recognizable.
Her subject matter ranges from broad sweeping landscapes, beach scenes to townscapes. There is an underlying warmth to Beagan’s work. She captures the ravishes of the Irish winter and the transient nature of light, turning the ordinary into the extraordinary.
Beagan's style is figurative, romantic and moody. She comments, “My paintings are finished when they are able to convey a moment or sensation, an initial impact and a sense of mystery”.
She has exhibited throughout Ireland and Australia. Over the years Beagan has won many art awards such as the Australian Rotring drawing award and the Henry Chapman award for watercolour. Her work has also been purchased by the Department of Health and the Department of Justice.
