Born in the Dominican Republic, Josephine Cardin if a fine arts photographer living and working in Rochester, NY. She started as a ballet dancer before studying a B.A. in Art History and a M.A. in Communications.
Her work is inspired by music, dance, and the human themes of loneliness, isolation, fear, and transformation. Cardin regularly produce self-portraits where she creates abstract narratives through a visual dialogue between the subject, the artist and their magnetic environments.
Cardin's work has been published in numerous publications including Hi-Fructose, InPrint and Digital Camera. She has exhibited with the Menier Gallery in London, ArtMeet Gallery in Milan, Spectrum Gallery in Rochester, NY, The Professional Woman Photoraphers, and The Boca Raton Museum of Art Juried Exhibition.
She has also received numerous awards including a first place award by the Prix de La Photographie and finalist places for the PhotoNola/International House Mary Magdalene in New Orleans and the Photographer's Forum Magazine's for best photography 2014.
