John Button was born and raised in Lowestoft, Suffolk.
He studied Architecture in Brighton and worked for many years with exhibition design, interiors and illustration. He moved to Sweden with his young family and began painting and exhibiting more actively.
In his paintings, John represents landscape and seascape through their patterns and textures, attempting to trigger a memory or a sense of place and ignoring conventional rules of perspective along the way. In his still life studies, John tries to take something extraordinary out of his everyday surroundings.
He says; "Whether it's an uncleared breakfast table or a group of boats hauled up on stony beach, I'm concerned with composition, with colour and with keeping the whole thing as fresh as I can."
John is currently represented by galleries in Sweden, England and U.S.A.
