Jo Cummins is inspired by rich colours and states that her artwork is a celebration of colour. Jo often paints using acrylics as they allow her to layer the rich colours for maximum saturation.
When talking about her artwork, Jo states, "My themes are eclectic, all images united by vivid hues and bold delineation. I create art in order to share my vision of our colour-filled world without the distraction of unnecessary detail. The colours I paint are an accurate representation of the colours I see."
Often described as 'mood-enhancing', her work aims to be uplifting and thought-provoking. Many of her newer works comment on social injustice. She states, "Despite bright colours and benign subject matter all is not necessarily as it appears to be."
